Staff who worked at La Fabrique nightclub in Bo’ness have been reliving their memories.

Former workers Lorna Raeburn and Ann Mcmeechan attended a reminiscence session at Bo’ness Library today (28 March).

They talked about the big names – such as Shirley Bassey, Tommy Cooper, Lulu and Des O’Connor – who appeared at the Bo’ness nightspot.

Other residents who used to go to the nightclub also shared their memories, organised as part of a Memories Scotland event.

Library staff even laid on chicken (sandwiches) – in honour of the famous “Chicken in a Basket” served to La Fabrique regulars.

There was also cheese and onion snacks on cocktail sticks – a favourite in the 1970s, when La Fabrique operated. The club later became McTavishes and then Caesar’s Palace. It’s now the site of a branch of Lidl.

Lorna (left) and Ann both worked at La Fabrique as young women. They attended the reminiscence event in Bo’ness Library.

Library staff got into the spirit of things – wearing 70s gear and serving up chicken sandwiches (albeit not in a basket).
