Time to renew your membership

Community groups and residents in Bo’ness are being urged to renew their membership with Bo’net – the Bo’ness Networking Group.

“We’re planning our AGM on September 2 and want to have an updated list of members, and their contact details, to invite them along,” said chair Madelene Hunt.

“If you’ve been a member before – or want to join – just head over to our website and fill in the form. It will only take a few minutes and membership renewals are completely free.

“If we don’t hear from you by July 26, we’ll assume you no longer want to stay as a member. But hopefully that won’t be the case. Full details are available at www.bonet.org.uk.”

The charity supports community organisations across Bo’ness and Blackness.

It provides groups with access to information, networking opportunities and regular updates about funding, events and local initiatives.

Bo’net also gets involved in great projects – including the creation of a new community garden at Bo’ness Hospital.

It also helped support the creation of free audio guides for the area and leaflets to promote Bo’ness and Blackness.

“In the last year, we’ve been trying to attract new trustees and that’s taken a bit of time,” said Madelene. “But some new people have come forward and we’re grateful for their support.”

Bo’net’s website – www.bonet.org.uk – features a directory of local organisations as well as links to other local guides and information. If you want your group listed, or have questions, please email: info@bonet.org.uk or call 01506 823714 and leave your details.

Mrs Hunt added: “Bo’ness is fortunate to have a fantastic range of community groups, charities, and volunteers. The place would be much poorer without all their hard work and effort. We want to do all we can to support them.”

Important information

Bo’net is asking people to re-register, under the terms of its constitution. This says you must give 28 clear days notice to re-register. And also stresses that failure to re-register could mean that you will no longer be a member.

The Constitution says: “The board may, at any time, issue notices to the members requiring them to confirm that they wish to remain as members of the organisation, and allowing them a period of 28 days (running from the date of issue of the notice) to provide that confirmation to the board. If a member fails to provide confirmation to the board (in writing or by e-mail) that he/she wishes to remain as a member of the organisation before the expiry of the 28-day period referred to in clause 22, the board may expel him/her from membership.
A notice under clause 22 will not be valid unless it refers specifically to
the consequences (under clause 23) of failing to provide confirmation
within the 28-day period.”

This notice was published on 17 June 2026.
